WFF, IMAGES TEAM UP MAY 20 ON TOM McCARTHY'S WIN WIN
WFF and Images Cinema have often teamed up on special screenings during the Festival’s off-season: The Illusionist, God Grew Tired of Us, The Last Kiss, Blue State, For Love or Country. We’re happy to let you announce our latest collaboration: Win Win, the terrific new dramedy by Tom McCarthy whose debut feature The Station Agent opened WFF’s 2003 season.
Save the date! – Friday, May 20 at 7:00pm. Win Win’s co-producer Jacqueline Brogan will introduce the film and do a Q&A afterward with WFF executive director Steve Lawson, followed by a party at Red Herring. The film will have a week’s run, but proceeds from this special screening will equally benefit WFF and Images.
With a stellar cast featuring Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Jeffrey Tambor, Burt Young, and Alex Shaffer, Win Win revolves around a small-town lawyer and wrestling coach (Giamatti) who becomes guardian of an elderly client to make extra income, only to find himself in hot water when the client’s grandson (Shaffer, a state wrestling champ in real life) shows up. The twists and turns that ensue as Mike strives to juggle doing well and doing good are a unique fusion of laughter, family dynamics, and human conflict.
The New York Times noted: Win Win is “like watching a master class in offbeat comic brilliance.” The Wall Street Journal scored it “Win Win 1, sports cliches 0,” while Rolling Stone stated “the movie wins you over, head and heart” and New York Magazine praised “a near perfect comedy with a flawless cast.”
Prices for this special event are $12 general and $10 for Images members. Tickets may be purchased by calling (413) 458-1039 or at the door on the night. Images Cinema is located at 50 Spring Street in Williamstown.
It’s a treat to present this latest work from Tom McCarthy, a WFF alumnus and one of the leading independent writer/directors today. Hope to see you on May 20th!
