WFF Benefit to Feature Against the Current
For the third year, WFF will hold a Benefit during the first weekend of the Festival. The evening of Saturday, October 24 will begin with 5:30pm dinner in Mezze's new catering space at 777 Cold Spring Road in Williamstown, followed by the New England premiere of Peter Callahan's film Against the Current at 8pm in MASS MoCA's Hunter Center in North Adams. Benefit tickets are $100, and include the dinner (which the writer/director and producers will attend) plus reserved seating at the movie.
Since its reading at WFF in 2004, Callahan's screenplay has been made into an extraordinary film. Seeking emotional closure, a young man decides to swim the length of the Hudson River accompanied by two friends in a boat. Callahan's direction and superb cast - Joseph Fiennes, Justin Kirk, Elizabeth Reaser, Mary Tyler Moore, Michelle Trachtenberg - create a funny/sad, beautifully nuanced saga of human folly and the many tests of friendship. Against the Current is a joint screening of WFF and MASS MoCA.
